Changelog

Version 1.4.0 is our biggest update since we completed the dime line-up. We've rebuilt the audio engine from the ground up, in preparation for much more powerful and modular plugin hosts. dime plugins are the first to get the new engine, and it brings big performance improvements on both the DSP and the interface sides.

We've also added one of your most requested features: oversampling.

A faster engine

Every dime plugin now uses less CPU: up to 1.6x better on macOS and up to 2.2x better on Windows. The figures below are CPU benchmark scores measured with Plugin Doctor, before and after the update. Lower is better.

macOS

Pluginv1.3.9v1.4.0Improvement
dime[tt]9.55.91.6x
dime[ms]4.53.71.2x
dime[mb]1712.21.4x

Windows

Pluginv1.3.9v1.4.0Improvement
dime[tt]8.64.02.2x
dime[ms]4.02.31.7x
dime[mb]12.56.51.9x

dime[tt] also gets a big latency cut, from 25 ms down to about 1.5 ms, so you can now use it for realtime recording.

The interface is more responsive too.

Oversampling

You'll find the new oversampling options in the footer controls: off, 2x, 4x and 8x (dime[mb] goes up to 4x). Oversampling isn't an automatable parameter, so it won't change your automation and stays backwards-compatible as the engine evolves.

Quality-of-life improvements

  • You can now favourite plugins in the plugin menu and filter the list to show only your favourites.
  • You can sort the plugin menu by most recently or most frequently used plugins.
  • The installer is about 20% smaller.
